The Apostolic Church Ikot Akata Assembly was filled to capacity as the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Honourable Uko Umoh, led dignitaries to a thanksgiving service to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Addressing worshippers, Hon. Uko Umoh appreciated legionnaires who paid the supreme price to keep Nigeria as one indivisible nation saying, he holds them in high esteem.
He called for regular interface between members of the Nigerian legion in Etinan and the leadership of the council in order to explore areas of collaboration with the council.
“Etinan Council under my leadership is determined to change the narrative and we want to collaborate with members of the legion especially in the area of providing intelligence and security to public facilities in our communities.”
The Council boss who read the only bible portion drawn from the book of Psalms 103 vs 1 -17 assured the legionnaires that his administration has a lot of good things in stock for them.
Earlier in a sermon titled, “The Blessings of Thanksgiving”, the Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Apostle (Barr) S. B.Inyang said there is no thanksgiving without remembrance.
He reminded Christians that thanksgiving to God is both mandatory and obligatory and listed the blessings of thanksgiving to include multiple grace and as a weapon for supernatural warfare.
Leading the legionnaires on a thanksgiving offering to God, chairman of Nigerian Legion in Etinan, Captain Michael Ukpong Rtd while appreciating Almighty God for his protection during years in service, also commended the local government chairman for his support to members of the legion.
Rtd. Captain Ukpong who called for generous donation to members of the legion also added that the armed forces remembrance day celebration is a solemn reminder of men and women who gave their lives as a ransom for all.
The thanksgiving service featured presentation of almanac of The Apostolic Church to the Council as well as the presentation of the Holy Bible to the Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area.
The church service was attended by the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon Imaobong Michael, representative of Etinan State Constituency, Hon Uduak Ekpo-Ufot, Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ekerete Umoh and all the 11 councilors, Secretary of the Local Government Council, Hon Idorenyin Udo, Local Government Head of Service,Mrs Mercy Ntekim and all the Directors, Vice Chairman of PDP in Uyo Senatorial District, Rt.Hon Inemesit Itinan PhD, PDP Chairman in Etinan Local Government Area, Hon Pius Emmanuel John, Woman Leader of PDP in Etinan, Hon Comfort Timothy.
Also at the thanksgiving service were all the Service Chiefs in the local government, the Paramount Ruler of Etinan Local Government Area was represented by the Village Head of Ekom Iman, Obong Linus Udosen. Some of the political stakeholders include Engr Billy Etuk, Obong Donald Uko, Hon Emmanuel Titus, Hon Item Etuk,Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Pastor Ubong Inyang and a host of others including widows of ex soldiers and socio cultural groups
