The Etinan Local Government Council has commenced road grading in Southern Iman Ward 1, covering five villages: Ikot Akpan Obio Ekot, Oniong Iman, Ikot Itina, Afaha Urua Essien, and Awa Ntong.
Hon. Ime Nyong, Ward Councilor, received the council grading team and stated that the exercise, which began with Ikot Inwang – Iffe road in Ikot Akpan Obio Ekot, aims to improve infrastructure and accessibility across all villages in the ward.
“This project is part of the Council Chairman’s efforts to deliver on his campaign promises, focusing on opening up rural communities, promoting economic growth, and social development,” he added.
Elder Christian Ufot, Ward Leader, expressed gratitude to Hon. Uko Umoh for the road maintenance project on behalf of the ward. He noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Pastor Umo Eno PhD’s ARISE agenda, prioritizing people-oriented projects and community development.
The Ward Leader emphasized the importance of timely road grading, particularly in rural areas, to maintain usability and good drainage properties. This helps prevent erosion and rutting, ensuring all-weather passability and access to essential services.
The Ward Leader assured continued support for government initiatives that positively impact the ward, improve residents’ quality of life, and promote economic growth.
Other stakeholders who praised the initiative include Former Commissioner for Science and Technology Dr. Elizabeth Obot, Former Councilor Hon. Aniefiok Gilead, Mr. Victor Johnathan, and Ward Chairman Mr. Udeme Akpan.http://8
