The Big Catch Up Immunization Exercise has been flagged off in Etinan Local Government Area by the wife of the Chairman, Mrs Emily Uko Umoh.
The flag off exercise took place at the Primary Health Centre, Secretariat Road, Etinan.
In her opening remarks, the First Lady appreciated all the people who turned up for the 3rd round of Big Catch Up which aims to protect children within the age range of 0-59 months from preventable deadly diseases.
Mrs Umoh Stated that children who are not immunized are prone to diseases which can disabled them and distort their future.
She stressed on the benefits of immunization and encouraged mothers to ensured that all children are immunized at the nearest health centres as it is safe, effective and free.
The Director of Health, Mrs Ekaete Ukpong in her goodwill message appreciated the manner and way the wife of the Chairman handles matters related to women and children in Etinan Local Government Area.
She also commended all the staff working with her for their commitment and dedication to their duties and pleaded with Mrs Umoh to provide seats for the health centre.
The supervisor for Health, Hon Emmanuel Sampson expressed his gratitude towards the council and the first lady, Mrs Emily Umoh, for showing love always to the mothers and children of Etinan. He also encouraged them to always turn up for their children immunization exercises.
The highpoint of the event was presentation of gifts to the children, and also cash gift to purchase some seats.
