Dr. Akan Weeks stands tall among contemporary clergymen in Akwa Ibom State and is arguably the most widely known indigene of Etinan Local Government Area who shepherds the lion’s share of Christians under one shepherd. His name resonates far beyond the pulpit, evoking faith, resilience, and a deep commitment to spiritual and community development.

A Prominent Clergyman and Visionary Leader

Dr. Weeks is the Founder and General Overseer of Reigners Bible Church International, one of the largest and most vibrant Christian congregations in Akwa Ibom State. The church, known for its dynamic worship and large following, reflects his vision of a faith community rooted in love, holiness, and purpose. His ministry extends beyond the church walls through Akan Weeks Ministries International, which focuses on outreach, evangelism, and empowerment.

Faith Through Trials: The Reigners Bible Church Collapse

A search for Dr. Akan Weeks on the internet often highlights the tragic 2016 incident involving the collapse of the Reigners Bible Church building—an ambitious architectural project envisioned to seat over 5,000 worshippers across two galleries. While the event drew national attention and intense scrutiny, Dr. Weeks’ response to that tragedy revealed his humility, endurance, and unwavering faith. Rather than retreating, he channeled his energy into rebuilding both his ministry and the faith of those who looked up to him.

Organizer of the Akwa Ibom Solemn Assembly

Dr. Weeks also plays a prominent role in statewide spiritual revival through the Akwa Ibom Solemn Assembly, which he convenes under the auspices of the United Intercessors Global Network in partnership with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). The annual event gathers thousands of believers, church leaders, and intercessors in collective prayer for the peace, progress, and spiritual renewal of Akwa Ibom State.

Author, Teacher, and Prayer Advocate

As a prolific author, Dr. Akan Weeks has written several faith-based books that offer spiritual guidance and practical insights into Christian living. His works are read widely among believers seeking to strengthen their walk with God.

He is also known for organizing Prayer Walks—corporate outdoor prayer sessions that bring Christians together to intercede for their families, communities, and nation. These events reflect his belief that faith must be both personal and communal, expressed in active engagement with society.

Community Builder and Native Son of Etinan

Beyond his ecclesiastical duties, Dr. Weeks remains deeply connected to his roots in Etinan. He has contributed to local development efforts, supported youth initiatives, and provided spiritual leadership to his people. His love for Etinan and his desire to see it prosper spiritually and materially make him not only a pastor but also a community builder.

A Legacy of Faith and Service

Dr. Akan Weeks’ journey—marked by triumphs, trials, and steadfast devotion—embodies the enduring power of faith. Through Reigners Bible Church International, Akan Weeks Ministries International, and his intercessory leadership, he continues to inspire thousands across Akwa Ibom State and beyond. His life’s work stands as a testament to the transformative impact of a man who, anchored in God, seeks not only to build churches but also to rebuild lives and communities.
