Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) has picked Honorable Uko Umoh, Chairman Etinan Local Government Area, as the best performing Chairman in Akwa Ibom State for the year 2024.
The prestigious award was presented to the chairman in his office by the Director General of the corporation Mrs Imaobong Udoh in company of the director of marketing , Mr Micheal Etukudo and other staff of the corporation including Blessing Inyang.
Mrs Imaobong Udoh while presenting the award to the chairman, said Hon Uko Umoh was picked after a careful assessment of his programmes which centered around the well being of the people at the grassroots.
She congratulated the council chairman for emerging victorious in the PDP primary election as well as the general election saying, his agenda for the development of Etinan is highly commendable.
” AKBC as a media organisation has found you worthy of this honour as you have executed projects and programmes that have brought government closer to the people,” she stated as she presented the award.
Responding, the chairman of Council, Hon Uko Umoh, thanked the media organisation for finding him worthy of the honour.
The Council boss said the award will spur him to do more for the people as his administration has set machineries in motion for a change of story in Etinan local government area.
“We have succeeded this far because we have a team here that knows how to interprete my vision. The Vice chairman, Council’s secretary and the head of Local Government Service and Directors all share in my vision of a new Iman.
“In the last three months, we have started the construction of an ultra modern motor park, remodelled Etinan roundabout, furnished the Millennium Hall and also renovated the legislative chambers by providing toilet facilities.
“We have a template and by the time we finish people will be coming to Etinan to find out the magic we used to achieve so much. We have bought water pumps and electric transformers which is meant to restore light and water in our rural communities” he declared.
Present at the award ceremony was the Vice Chairman, Hon Imaobong Michael who also appreciated the corporation for finding Etinan worthy of the prestigious award.
