The chairman of Etinan local government area, Hon. Uko Umoh, has concluded the first phase of projects commissioning in 8 communities with a charge against vandalism.
The Chairman gave the warning at Etinan Urban Ward 1 shortly before he commissioned an electrification project at Etinan village by the Motor Park made possible by his administration.
The chairman said it is disheartening that while government at all levels are trying to put facilities in place to better peopleโs lives, some people are bent on sabotaging government effort.
He vowed that whosoever is caught vandalizing public facilities will be charged to court and jailed to serve as a deterrent to others.
“I want you to own this project and protect it against activities of vandals. As a youth leader you know the good, the bad and the ugly people living within our communities, it is your duty to protect government facilities at your domain.”
Projects commissioned on the second day of inauguration by Etinan Local Government Council includes Water project at Ikot Udo Otto in Urban Ward 3, electrification project at Ikot Nkang in Northern Iman Ward 2 and a water project at Afaha Akpan Ekpo in Urban Ward 5.
At Ikot Udo Otto, where the chairman commissioned a water project, the political leader of Urban Ward 3, Pastor Ubong Isong commended the Chairman for going after public facilities abandoned in communities saying lack of Maintenance Culture has remained the bane of development in Africa.
At Afaha Akpan Ekpo where the chairman commissioned a water project, the Village Council chairman, Pastor Godwin Utin thanked the chairman for giving the people of Afaha Akpan Ekpo water and appealed for the listing of Afaha Akpan Ekpo – Ibagwa road for construction.
At Ikot Nkang village, the political leader of Northern Iman Ward 2, Obong Donald Uko, appreciated the chairman for consolidating on the mandate that was given to him by the people of Northern Iman Ward 2.
Dr. Friday Etuk(ASSUR) thanked the chairman for bringing light to the community by not just providing a functional transformer but also erecting new poles to replace the fallen ones.
Projects completed and commissioned by the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area include four electrification projects at Ikot Nkang in Northern Iman Ward 2, Ikot Ibok in Southern Iman Ward 3,Ekpene Ukpa in Urban Ward 2 and Etinan village by the motor park in Urban Ward 1.
Water projects include Ikot Udo Otto in Urban Ward 3, Afaha Akpan Ekpo in Urban Ward 5, Ikot Eba in Urban Ward 2 and Iwor Etor in Southern Iman Ward 5.
At the end of the commissioning exercise, the chairman inspected the ongoing Motor Park project as well as the Etinan remodelling project.
