Etinan Council Boss Urges Indigenes To Partake In Government Programmes

Indigenes of Etinan Local Government Area have been advised to always participate in government’s policies and programmes for their overall benefits.

The Chairman of Council, Hon Uko Umoh gave the advice on Monday while sensitizing beneficiaries of Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer at the Millennium Hall of the Council.

According to him, government at all levels have different programmes for different categories of beneficiaries pointing out that, if the people fail to take advantage, Etinan will be a major loser in such scheme.

Hon. Uko Umoh urged the people to always be patient with government when its programme or policy does not materialize immediately saying, government business go through processes before it reaches the people.

The Council boss thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining the scheme and expanding it to cover the entire state thereby making Etinan a beneficiary.

He used the opportunity to thank the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, for the numerous life intervention programmes that have gone a long way to alleviate the suffering of the people in these difficult times.

While urging Etinan beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the local government at Afaha Offiong, venue of the payment, the Chairman commended the desk officer for Etinan, Mrs Ofonmbuk Udo, for her selflessness, diligence and dedication that has made the scheme a success in the local government area.

Earlier in her remarks, the desk officer for Etinan, Mrs Ofonmbuk Udo, said the FG/World Bank programme targets urban poor.

She highlighted that the beneficiaries were drawn from an existing data base where people were registered in the past, saying, the exercise is not fraudulent in anyway.

Mrs Udo informed the chairman that 65 persons have been chosen who will collect N 25,000.00 for three months.

The desk officer was accompanied by the Community Facilitator in the local government, Mr. Victor Udoeka.

In the chairman’s entourage were the Secretary of Council, Hon Idorenyin Udo, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Pastor Ubong Inyang, Supervisors led by the Dean, Hon Anthony Eboh.
