The memories of competitive football event is to be re-enacted in Etinan Local Government Area as the Chairman, Honourable Uko Umoh, has announced the readiness of his administration to organise a Chairman’s Cup tournament .
Hon. Umoh dropped the hint in a chat with newsmen at Etinan Sports Stadium after watching the final match of Mama’s Cup Football Tournament.
He said the local government administration under his leadership will do everything within its power to promote unity, adding that football tournament is one of such avenues to unite the people.
“You can see the joy and excitement of the people and the large turn out is a proof of people’s love for the round leather game.
“We will tap from the 20 years experience of Mama’s Cup Football Tournament to organise a chairman’s cup that will not only promote unity but help discover talent for global export” he hinted.
At the final of the Mama’s Cup Football Tournament Sunday Sunday FC defeated Royalty FC by 4 goals to 3 on penalty shot out to lift the trophy for 2024 edition.
Mama’s Cup Football Tournament is a yearly football festival sponsored by Gospel Foundation Mission, Etinan
