The chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Akwa Ibom State, Rt Hon Anietie Etuk, has handed over newly constructed administrative block to Etinan local government council
At the handing over ceremony, Rt.Hon Anietie Etuk thanked Governor Umo Eno for his interest in the education sector as seen in the regular payment of counterpart funds to development partners.
The SUBEB boss also commended Hon Uko Umoh for the synergy between the local government and the board which made it possible for the project to be executed within the time frame and according to specification.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of job done by the contractors and appealed to the chairman of Council to assist in providing access road to the beautiful building.
The Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr.Mrs. Roseline Anthony Mfon commended the federal government for the intervention and especially the state government for providing the counter part funds.
She appealed to the community and the youths to take ownership of the project and ensure there is no act of vandalism.
The Education Secretary for Etinan local government area, Pastor John John Ekefre, was full of praises to the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, for his dynamic works in the education sector. He also thanked the chairman of Council, the SUBEB chairman and the Permanent Secretary for providing staff of the education authority a befitting office.
Receiving the new building, Hon Uko Umoh, thanked the board for coming to the aid of the local government by constructing a befitting administrative block for staff of local education authority.
“Staff welfare is my priority and when I saw the dilapidated state of the education block, I appealed for help. It is one thing to appeal and another thing for the appeal to be granted.
“Let me thank His Excellency, the governor, for his numerous intervention in the education sector. This building will enhance the output of staff. In fact, staff will be eager to come to work because of the conducive environment”
The chairman assured SUBEB that their request for an access road will be looked into by the council saying he is overjoyed with the development in his domain.
The administrative block for Etinan Local Education Authority was approved under the 2023 work plan while the building project started in March 2025. it had a duration of three months.
It is located along Secretariat road, Etinan and has two general offices, six private offices, three toilets, Perimeter fence with a gate house, a borehole with two overhead tanks.
