After 15 years of living in darkness, the people of Ikot Ibok village in Southern Iman Ward 3 can now enjoy electricity courtesy of the administration of Hon Uko Umoh.
Ikot Ibok village is one of the four communities in Etinan local government area where the local administration under the leadership of Hon Uko Umoh has restored electricity by providing functional transformers.
Others are Ekpene Ukpa in Urban 2, Etinan village in Urban Ward 1and Ikot Nkang in Northern Iman Ward 2.
Addressing the people of Ikot Ibok during the commissioning of the newly installed electricity transformer, Hon Uko Umoh said his tenure will witness the restoration of electricity and potable water in rural communities.
The Council boss who was accompanied by his wife, assured the people of his commitment is changing the narrative.
“We will continue to execute projects and bring development to the doorsteps of our people. We cannot ignore provision of basic amenities because we want to meet up with the financial demands of our people. We will marry the two. But be rest assured that we will be dealing with 64 villages before the end of our first term”
Appreciating the Chairman for restoring light to Ikot Ibok village, the Youth President of the community, Comrade Udom Akpan Ned described the chairman as a promise keeper who matches words with action.
He assured the chairman of the support and loyalty of Southern Iman Ward 3 to his administration and future political ambition.
The political leader of Southern Iman Ward 3, Hon. Pius Emmanuel John described the chairman’s developmental efforts as unprecedented and assured him of the support of Southern Iman Ward 3 all through his tenure.
Hon. Pius who is the chapter Chairman of PDP in Etinan described Southern Iman Ward 3 as a very large ward with seven villages and appealed to the chairman to consider other villages in the next phase.
The Village Head, Eteidung Akpan Akpan Inyanantia thanked Governor Umo Eno for giving Etinan Local Government a chairman that is able to interprete his developmental vision for rural communities.
Eteidung Inyanantia assured the chairman of his community’s readiness to protect the transformer saying, those who vandalised the old transformer were apprehended and handed over to the police.
At Urban Ward ward 2 where the Chairman commissioned a water project at Community Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Eba, the chairman said the water project will serve both the school and the community.
The Vice Chairman of Etinan, Hon Imaobong Michael who is a native of Ikot Eba thanked the chairman for commissioning two life touching projects in Urban Ward 2 in one day assuring him that, the ward will continue to support the administration of Hon Uko Umoh.
The Village Head of Ikot Eba, Eteidung Linus Ekong appreciated the chairman for his thoughtfulness in reticulating the water project and asked for a
paremiter fence for the secondary school to check undue trespass.At Ekpene Ukpa village, the chairman called for vigilance among the people to protect the newly installed transformer saying, anyone caught will be charged to court.
The Village Head of Ekpene Ukpa, Eteidung Ephraim John JP and the Youth President, Comrade Emmanuel Tommy thanked the chairman for restoring light in the community and appeal for a government owned secondary school in Ekpene Ukpa village
At Iwor Etor village where the council reticulated a non functional water project, the Youth President, Comrade Edo Obo Sunday, thanked the chairman for revisiting the water project saying, it serves four communities of Ikot Ekot, Ikot Akpan Ntembom, Afaha and Iwor Etor.
He appealed for an extension of pipes to take the water further away from the tank stand.
Comrade Obo also appealed that Iwor Etor indigenes be considered in employment opportunities at the council a request that received instant approval from the chairman.
