calls for partnership towards effective healthcare delivery
Etinan Local Government Council has joined the rest of the world to mark the World Health Day for the year 2025.
The event was held at the Millennium Hall of Council’s Secretariat in partnership between ECEWs and the AKSPHCDA in Etinan Local Government Area.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Council, Hon Uko Umoh, appreciated ECEWs and AKSPHCDA especially the reproductive unit for bringing the celebration to Etinan Local Government Area.
The Chairman who was represented by the Supervisor of Health, Mr Emmanuel Sampson, said his administration is open to credible partnership with individuals and organisations towards providing healthcare for the people.
“As a local administration, we are open to partnership with credible persons and organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of not just mothers and babies but the entire population. A healthy population is a productive population”
The Council boss disclosed that his administration will soon embark on renovation and equipping of at least four Primary Health Centres in the local government to boost health care delivery at the grassroots.
On the theme of this year’s celebration being ‘Healthy beginning, Hopeful future’ the chairman said it underscores the importance attached to infant and maternal health of our people.
“I believe this year’s theme will seek to improve the survival and long-term well-being of women and babies, particularly in vulnerable settings” he disclosed.
Goodwill messages were delivered by partners including ECEWs, WHO, UNICEF, Director- Primary Health Care in Etinan as well as International Forum of Etinan Indigenous Health Professionals, which focused on healthy beginning, Hopeful future, emphasizing on maternal and child health to reduce preventable deaths and improve health outcomes for women and infants.
The day’s celebration featured donation of cash to new born babies and visit to Primary Health centres at Iwor Etor, and Secretariat Road as well as Etinan General Hospital by the Chairman
